Two brothers were arrested this weekend after the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said they hooked an ATM in Gold River to their truck and attempted to pull it away.

Investigators received an alert of a burglary just after 4 a.m. Sunday at a Bank of America ATM near Gold Country Boulevard and Coloma Road . Deputies, who were already in the area observing an black Ford SUV driving with its lights off, attempted to stop the vehicle.

The same bank branch’s ATM was severely damaged last year after burglars burned the metal and attempted to pry it loose. No suspects have been identified in connection to that incident.

The suspects and deputies engaged in a pursuit that ended when the brothers’ vehicle hit a curb and became disabled, according to a news release from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

The 36-year-old and 38-year-old brothers were arrested and booked into the downtown Sacramento County Main Jail. They each face a felony charge of grand theft and a misdemeanor charge of having burglary tools.

The 36-year-old also faces charges of having a concealed firearm in the vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm and having a firearm as a felon, according to the jail log.

Both are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Sacramento Superior Court.

Deputies requested the public to come forward with more information about these types of incidents. Call the Sheriff’s Office at 916- 874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357. Tipsters may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
