    Popular fast food chain Wienerschnitzel will soon start serving up hot dogs in a new Sacramento-area spot.

    The restaurant will officially open its doors at 4855 Granite Drive in Rocklin on Thursday, Oct. 17, according to a company news release.

    “After being part of the Wienerschnitzel brand for nearly 45 years, I’m excited to continue expanding the legacy hot dog chain in California,” franchise owner Bal Soin said in the release. “We’re confident it will quickly become a local favorite ...”

    Wienerschnitzel is among a handful of quick-service food chains to expand in the Sacramento region.

    Chick-fil-A opened a new restaurant in Roseville on Oct. 3, and Dutch Bros Coffee plans to open a new drive-thru in the same city.

    What is Wienerschnitzel?

    Advertised as the “world’s largest hot dog chain,” Wienerschnitzel was founded by John Galardi in 1961.

    The company started out with a single hot dog stand in Wilmington, eventually expanding to a national chain that serves more than 120 million hot dogs each year.

    Parent company Galardi Group Inc. of Tustin has franchised a total of 340 Wienerschnitzel restaurants in 12 states, the release said.

    In addition to Wienerschnitzel, Galardi Group is the parent company and franchisor of Hamburger Stand and Tastee Freez , LLC, according to the release.

    Where is new Sacramento-area restaurant?

    Wienerschnitzel’s newest location is at the intersection of Granite Drive and Rocklin Road in Rocklin, near Starbucks and Rocklin Donuts & Cinnamon, according to Google Maps.

    Customers can dine at the restaurant, use the drive-thru or order online .

    Delivery will be available two to four weeks after the grand opening, the release said.

    What’s on the menu at Rocklin location?

    In addition to its signature chili cheese dogs , Wienerschnitzel serves up a variety of hot dogs, burgers and sandwiches.

    Other items on the menu include corndogs, chili cheese fries and jalapeno poppers.

    Breakfast options include breakfast burritos, biscuit sandwiches and hash brown po’taters.

    Drink offerings include sodas, flavored lemonades and iced tea, while the Tastee-Freeze dessert menu ranges from shakes and root beer floats to sundaes and soft-serve ice cream cones.

    What are open hours?

    The Rocklin Wienerschnitzel will be open 10 a.m. to midnight daily, according to its website.

    Where can I find Wienerschitzel in Northern California?

    Wienerschnitzel has more than 200 locations in California , including several in Northern California.

    Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova and Roseville each have one Wienerschnitzel location, and there are a total of eight in Sacramento.
