A Powerball ticket sold in California won $243,664 but just missed the $437 million jackpot, lottery officials say.

The ticket matched five winning numbers but not the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, Oct. 19, the California Lottery said.

Four tickets in California matched four numbers and the Powerball to win $15,594 each.

California adjusts lottery prizes based on the number of tickets sold and number of winners.

Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $456 million , with a cash value of about $220 million, for the next drawing Monday, Oct. 21, the national Powerball site said.

The winning numbers were 7, 16, 19, 45 and 64, with a Powerball of 25, the lottery said. The Power Play was 3

The winning California ticket was sold at a Chevron gas station in Lake Elsinore, about a 70-mile drive southeast from Los Angeles.

A ticket sold in Pennsylvania also matched five winning numbers but not the Powerball for $1 million.

Roughly 790,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, the lottery said.

The Powerball jackpot has gone unclaimed since Aug. 19, when a California player won the $44 million grand prize, lottery officials said.

To score a jackpot in the Powerball , a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.
