While testifying before the Housing and Human Services Committee in February, Hook said her lot rent at a Swartz Creek mobile home park has more than doubled in the past six years. The warm June has been helping Great Lakes’ waters warm up, especially at beaches. The Sunday wind direction took the warm water away, but not for long. We had a condition called upwelling occur at many Lake Michigan and Lake Huron beaches on Sunday. Upwelling is when a certain wind direction blows the surface water at the beaches out into the open water of a Great Lake. The colder water below gets pulled up to the surface at the beach. This means the water temperature can plunge 20 degrees in just a matter of a few hours.

U.P. man accused of killing pregnant girlfriend rejects plea deal
DELTA COUNTY, MI – A Michigan man accused of murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend has rejected a plea deal.
