Border agents in Detroit seize enough fentanyl to kill 1.3 million people
DETROIT – Border agents have made the largest fentanyl seizure in the history of the Port of Detroit. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Field Operations announced Monday the discovery of nearly six pounds of the deadly opiate at the Fort Street Cargo Facility in Detroit on June 2.

The warm June has been helping Great Lakes’ waters warm up, especially at beaches. The Sunday wind direction took the warm water away, but not for long. We had a condition called upwelling occur at many Lake Michigan and Lake Huron beaches on Sunday. Upwelling is when a certain wind direction blows the surface water at the beaches out into the open water of a Great Lake. The colder water below gets pulled up to the surface at the beach. This means the water temperature can plunge 20 degrees in just a matter of a few hours.

DELTA COUNTY, MI – A Michigan man accused of murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend has rejected a plea deal. The Daily Press in Escanaba reported the decision by Tavaris Jackson and his legal team on June 29. Jackson is accused of murdering 22-year-old Harley Corwin and ditching her body in O.B. Fuller Park in July 2023.

Teen dead after early-morning crash in Upper Peninsula

Investigators searching for cause of massive Bay County trucking company fire
HAMPTON TWP, MI — Investigators are working to determine what sparked a massive blaze at a Hampton Township trucking company, likely causing more than $1 million in damage. Hampton Township Public Safety Director Bryan Benchley said fire investigators from Bay County, the state, and the ATF are to be on scene of MacFarlane Trucking & Excavating, sifting through the charred rubble in hopes of determining the fire’s origin.
Federal jury convicts Saginaw man of importing kilos of cocaine from Mexico
BAY CITY, MI — Two years ago, law enforcement brought down a crew that was bringing dozens of kilos of cocaine into the Saginaw area from Mexico. Officials had been investigating the group for a while but were forced to move on them earlier than anticipated when they overheard the crew plotting a murder on their tapped cellphones.
