8 Michigan beaches closed, under advisories after rounds of rainfall
There are eight Michigan beaches closed or under contamination advisories after a week of heavy rain throughout the state. From June 19-25, parts of the state had more than six inches of rain – about two-months’ worth. After a rain event like this, it’s not unusual to see high E. coli readings for a brief time after heavy rains and storms that churn up the near-shore waters at beaches.
Two asteroids will be visible from Earth this weekend

Fire ravages East Side Saginaw vacant house, several parked vehicles
SAGINAW, MI — An early morning fire on Saginaw’s East Side has left a house ready for demolition. About 4:30 a.m. on Friday, June 28, firefighters responded to a reported blaze at 2127 Glenwood Ave. The house was engulfed when crews arrived, with flames coming out of every window, said Saginaw Fire Department Battalion Chief Ray Tanner.
