Tim R. Wood was recently installed as president of the Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) at the organization’s Annual Meeting on August 9.

Wood has served on the AWF Board of Directors since 2012 and brings to AWF a commitment to conservation of Alabama’s wildlife and related natural resources and outdoor pursuits.

“Tim has been an exceptional board member and a true leader. We are lucky to have someone with his experience, talent, and enthusiasm stepping in as the next President of AWF. His leadership will greatly benefit our organization, and we are eager to embark on a productive year under his direction,” stated Tim L. Gothard, executive director of AWF.

Wood is a lifelong resident of Dallas County where he grew up on a small farm and resides in Selma. He accepted the position of General Manager of Central Alabama Farmers Co-Op in 1986. He has overseen the expansion into west Alabama with additional locations acquired in Faunsdale and Demopolis and a 2.5 million dollar relocation and expansion of its Selma facility. During this time, he has been honored twice with the E. P. Garrett Award for outstanding manager of the year within the Alabama Farmers Co-Op system.

He has been very involved in his professional field by serving as President of the Alabama Crop Management Association, Alabama Agribusiness Council, Auburn University Agricultural Alumni Association, Dallas County Cattlemen’s Association, and serving as a Board member of the Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce, Selma-Dallas County Economic Development Authority and the Black Belt Action Commission’s Agriculture Committee.

Wood serves on AWF’s Executive Committee, Operation GameWatch Committee, Nominating Committee, and Selma Wild Game Cook-off Committee. He also serves on the Alabama Governor’s Conservation Advisory Board and the Innovate Alabama Outdoor Recreation Council.

He is married to the former Susan Jones and they have two daughters who attended Auburn University, Blaire and Elizabeth, and four grandchildren. They are members of First Baptist Church in Selma.
