Gov. Kay Ivey has issued a $5,000 reward in the murder of a 22-year-old man in Dallas County on May 17, 2023.

In a proclamation issued Tuesday, Ivey set the reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction a person who murdered 22-year-old Kobe Campbell of Selma last year.

The proclamation stated that Campbell was shot multiple times after leaving a Selma residence and died shortly thereafter as a result of his injuries. The reason for the reward is due to the fact that the case remains unsolved and that “every effort should be made to apprehend and convict the perpetrator or perpetrators.”

The proclamation was signed by Ivey and attested by Secretary of State Wes Allen.

Previously, Crimestoppers had issued a $1,000 reward in July 2023. However, no arrests have been made since then.

DCSO responded to a call around midnight May 17, 2023, to the 700 block of Circle Drive for a shooting. Upon arrival, police located a male victim, who sustained fatal gunshot wounds in the front yard of his residence. The victim, identified as Campbell, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect involved or their whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department or CrimeStoppers using its 24-hour tip line at 334-215-STOP (7867) or 1-833-AL1-STOP (251-7867) or download a P3-tips app. Make sure you receive a Tip ID and Password to dialog with Investigators in case there is a follow-up question. Your tip may lead to a cash reward.
