SHEBOYGAN — Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s John Bian will join Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra for its May 18 performance.

Bian is an assistant principal violinist with MSO and will perform Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto with SSO.

“Barber’s violin concerto is one of the greatest American masterpieces, with lush passages and a fireworks finale,” an SSO news release said.

The concert is at 7:30 p.m. at the Stefanie H. Weill Center . Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and tickets range from $20 to $60, depending on seating tier.

A free, pre-concert talk will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

In addition to Barber’s work, the symphony will also perform Gustav Mahler’s First Symphony, “Titan.”

More: Maestro Estigarribia is the new ‘artistic authority’ of the Sheboygan symphony. Here’s his vision for the season starting Saturday.

“As we embark on this musical journey, we embrace the soul-stirring melodies of Barber's Violin Concerto, resonating with its lush beauty and fervent passion,” said Ernesto Estigarribia Mussi, music director of SSO, in the release. “Then, we delve into the vast landscapes of Mahler's First Symphony, where nature's whispers and human emotions intertwine in a symphonic tapestry of profound depth and grandeur.”

Tickets are available on the SSO website or by phone at 920-208-3243.
