    Here are 6 of the best french fry places in Sheboygan, according to readers

    SHEBOYGAN – French fries are best if they’re fresh, hand cut or covered with Parmesan and truffle oil, according to the Sheboygan community.

    Results for the best places to get french fries in the area were compiled from Facebook comments and messages to the Sheboygan Press, following a callout for community thoughts .

    Despite a few commenters unimpressed with the selection of french fries in Sheboygan, some popular names — McDonald’s, Culver’s, Arby’s and KFC — received shout-outs as a favorite french fry spot. Local spots were also recognized: Greece e Spoon for its feta and honey fries; Sheboygan’s Family Restaurant for “great crispy” fries; and Scenic Bar & Restaurant for “awesome seasoned” fries.

    BoMallies’ truffle Parmesan fries are 'fried to golden perfection'

    Community members lauded BoMallies , 2427 Calumet Drive, for its truffle Parmesan fries made from four ingredients: skinny fries, truffle oil, cracked pepper and Parmesan.

    Denni Kraus said BoMallies’ fries are her favorite in Sheboygan. They’re the perfect combination of savory and salty and are “fried to golden perfection.”

    Ashley Alft echoed Kraus’ sentiments in a message: “They are tossed in Parmesan and truffle oil and are soooooo good!”

    The restaurant’s menu changes based on the chef’s creativity, according to its website. Items include diverse salads, pizza, tacos, burgers and sandwiches.

    BoMallies opened its Sheboygan location in 2017 after a stint in Crystal Lake, near Elkhart Lake. The restaurant is open 4:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays.

    Local Press Eatery’s truffle fries stand out, too

    Local Press Eatery , 502 N. Eighth St., also received some shout-outs for its sidewinder fries, an atypical twisty shape. They’re offered in plain and truffle. The restaurant also offers sweet potato fries.

    Local Press Eatery is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays.

    Truffle fries win again. This time at Black Pig.

    Black Pig , 821 N. Eighth St., was praised among Facebook comments for its white truffle and black pepper bacon fries.

    One commenter said the fries are “amazing.” The truffle fries are available as a starter on the lunch and dinner menus.

    Black Pig is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays. It’s open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

    Silver Fern Pub loved for ‘fresh-cut’ fries

    Among votes of approval, one Facebook commenter ranked Silver Fern Pub’s fries as their favorite because they’re “fresh cut.”

    The Silver Fern offers regular or curry fries with housemade ginger dressing.

    The bar, 2538 N. 15th St., opened in 2003. It was recognized as the “Best Bar” in the Best of Sheboygan County Community’s Choice Awards for 2023.

    Rosemary fries at Urbane among favorites

    Several people shared in Facebook comments the fries at Urbane , 1231 N. Eighth St., are the best.

    Lindsay Morgan said in her family, Urbane’s rosemary fries are tied with Seebooth Delicatessen's fries and homemade ranch as the best.

    Urbane’s homemade fries tossed in rosemary salt can be ordered as a side for sandwiches, burgers and steak sandwiches.

    Urbane is open 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays.

    Field to Fork’s hand-cut fries pair with ‘fantastic’ ketchup

    Brian Spindler said he believes Field to Fork has the best french fries in Sheboygan.

    “They are cut fresh every day, always done to perfection and I'm not sure what type of ketchup they give you, but it is fantastic,” Spindler said. “I think it has to be homemade.”

    Field to Fork, 511 S. Eighth St., specializes in sweet and savory breakfast and lunch menu items. It is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
