FRACKVILLE – Clearly Clean celebrated the opening of a new line near Frackville and the planned near-doubling of their company at a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon.

Dignitaries and company officials were on-hand around midday at the former City Shirt plant near West Mahanoy Township.

“With this particular line here, and the expansion of 11 more in North Carolina, we will essentially be doubling the size of this company,” Jimmy Herring, CEO of Clearly Clean, told the Sentinel Thursday.

The company began in Orwigsburg and expanded to Frackville in 2019.

They produce a recyclable alternative to polystyrene for the meat and poultry industry, using PET plastic.

“I just hope they stay here awhile,” West Mahanoy Township Supervisors Chairman Paul “Pepper” Martin said. He also commended their efforts to help the environment.

The company announced earlier this summer a $24.9 Million plan to expand to Greensboro, North Carolina, where Herring says 11 lines will be opened.
