SHEPPTON – For the bulk of National Night Out here, rain and storms held off and allowed the community to connect with organizations working to help the area.

Tuesday’s event was organized by the East Union Township Crime Watch group, East Union Township Police, and Sheppton-Oneida Volunteer Fire Co., all of whom were in attendance, with the latter hosting.

Police vehicles from the Pennsylvania State Police and East Union Township — including a new Dodge Charger which will soon hit the streets — were displayed.

A fire safety house was also there, helping teach children about fire safety in the home.

The Pumpy Association — the group of volunteers working to revitalize the Pumping Station Dam — was also set up with shirts and coozies.

Shenandoah Community Ambulance also had a crew on site with medical demonstrations.

There was also goat snuggling set up.
