    East Union police rescue two dogs from crash

    BRANDONVILLE – Two dogs were rescued by police after a crash near this East Union Township village Tuesday.

    The crash happened in the 500 block of Main Boulevard, Route 924, between Brandonville and Sheppton.

    East Union Township Police arrived to find a Toyota Highlander over a guiderail and down an embankment on its side.

    A woman was able to free herself from the vehicle, but two dogs were still inside.

    Chief Christopher Dimmick made his way into the vehicle for the dogs while Patrolman Doug Litwhiler tended to the victim.

    Dimmick freed one dog and re-entered the vehicle to free the other dog.

    The woman was taken to a local hospital by Shenandoah Ambulance for treatment of injuries.

    Steve’s Towing removed the vehicle.

    The condition of both dogs was not provided.
