SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah Valley hired a new elementary principal at Monday’s special school board meeting.

Shawn Welch will succeed Brooke Wowak when she retires this fall.

The school board voted unanimously to hire Welch at a salary of $80,000.

Wowak has been elementary principal since 2013, succeeding Barbara Wilkinson. Wilkinson had replaced longtime principal Linda Monahan.

In other business, the board voted to hire Ashley Titus as an elementary special education teacher and Kelsea Petrylak as a secondary school counselor’s secretary.

They also voted to hire Kimnashia Alston as a full-time autistic paraprofessional.

The board retroactively approved the resignation of custodian Mark Hysock, retroactive to August 5, as well.
