    Schuylkill County Commissioners award contracts to demolish blighted Shenandoah properties

    POTTSVILLE – Several blighted properties will be coming down in Shenandoah soon.

    The Schuylkill County Commissioners awarded contracts Wednesday morning to have four blighted buildings in town razed.

    Those properties and contract awards are:

    • 106 West Laurel Street; $28,812; Robert Gusick;
    • 421 West New York Street, $4,449; Kass Contracting;
    • 206 East Lloyd Street, $13,333; AMC Enterprises;
    • Warehouse at N. White and E. Penn Streets; $9,000; Affordable Construction.

    The commissioners also approved the repository sale of two blighted properties owned by the late Glenn Paterson.

    A property at 104 North Bower Street was sold to the Schuylkill County Redevelopment Authority, and the former Martin Shirt factory on East Poplar Street to the Borough of Shenandoah.

    Five properties in Shenandoah and Mahanoy City are also being purchased by the Schuylkill County Land Bank:

    • 225 North Catherine Street, Shenandoah;
    • 300 West Chester Street, Shenandoah;
    • 535 East Centre Street, Mahanoy City;
    • 125 East Mahanoy Street, Mahanoy City;
    • 42 Liberty Hill, Mahanoy City.
