While he has yet to make a final 53-man roster, he put up a really good showing in one of America's biggest NFL media markets today. </p><p> Martinez signed with the New York Jets a few weeks ago and is competing for a coveted roster spot this preseason. He got his first taste of action for the team against the Washington Commanders today, coming on in the second half and really distinguished himself. </p><p> The former Huskers and Kansas State quarterback completed six of 10 passes for 104 yards and even added 24 rushing yards on two carries. He chose to keep his professional dream alive by signing with the UFL, where he joined the Birmingham Stallions and went on to earn league MVP honors and won the UFL Championship Game MVP after leading them to a title. </p><p> Martinez is going to be hard-pressed to make the final 53-man roster for the Jets given how they've built their QB room.
