Smart is 1-5 against the program as Georgia's head coach and recently lost to Alabama in last year's SEC Championship Game. This will be Smart's first game against Kalen DeBoer after the latter took over Alabama's program heading into the 2024 season. Georgia has beaten Clemson, Tennessee Tech, and Kentucky to start the season while Alabama has beaten Western Kentucky, South Florida, and Wisconsin.
