The longtime ESPN college football analyst absolutely ripped the fringe section of the Ohio State fan base following the team's loss to Oregon last weekend. The Buckeyes fell to the Ducks, 32-31, when quarterback Will Howard slid too late and the clock ran out in the fourth quarter, preventing Ryan Day's team from attempting a game-winning field goal. Howard played well on the road, but some fans chose to rip him for his late-game actions. (Hawk) knows what I’m talking about. They’re an embarrassment to the fanbase.” Herbstreit said that he believes Howard has been doing a great job as quarterback at Ohio State. Howard transferred into the OSU program from Kansas State this past offseason. “Will Howard took off and scrambled there. Time got away from him,” Kirk Herbstreit said. “He’s an amazing kid, who I think played pretty well, considering the environment he played in. Will Howard will have another opportunity, another chance to play. I thought so far, he’s doing a really good job of playing quarterback for Ohio State.” Herbstreit has let the Ohio State fan base get to him before. He used to live in Columbus, but ultimately moved out, citing some of the lunatic Buckeyes fans as a reason why. He and his family now spend time in Nashville and Cincinnati, primarily.
