If you're unaware, ESPN <a href="https://www.espn.com/college-football/fpi" rel="nofollow"> describes the FPI </a> as "a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season." Because the metrics are forward-looking, ESPN's FPI rankings often look different than the top 25 polls. This week's certainly do, to say the least. Ohio State is the new No. 1 team in the FPI, moving up one spot despite losing last week. Texas fell from No. 1 to No. 2 after losing to Georgia Saturday night. That's not that crazy, but after that, things get questionable. Somehow, 5-2 Alabama is still No. 3, despite losing to Tennessee yesterday. Georgia is fourth, which is defensible, but Ole Miss (5-2) is still in fifth.
