For the first time ever, the College Football Playoff field will feature 12 teams after including four teams through the first decade of its existence. The top four seeds will get first-round byes, with seeds 5-through-8 hosting opening round games on campus sites. The new format will make for an exciting month of college football from Dec. 20-Jan. 20. On Sunday morning, ESPN's Heather Dinich <a href="https://www.espn.com/college-football/insider/story/_/id/41890443/projecting-college-football-playoff-top-12-week-8" rel="nofollow"> released her updated projections </a> for how the committee might see things at this point in the season. As Dinich makes clear, this isn't a prediction of what the field will ultimately look like, but rather which teams are "in the driver's seat now, based on what they have done to this point." Not surprisingly, Dinich has 7-0 Oregon as her No. 1 seed.
