The first-year head coach threw his players under the bus on Sunday morning, calling his team "soft." "We're a soft football team across the board," Mayo said. "We talk about what makes a tough football team and that's being able to run the ball, being able to stop the run and that's being able to cover kicks. "I’d fire Mayo and AVP after the season and bring in Mike Vrabel as HC and Brian Dabol as OC!," one fan wrote. "The time has come to start the agenda Fire Jerod Mayo," one fan added. "The Patriots are the absolute worst team in football and it’s not even close. Them firing Bill is the biggest wrong decision they could have ever made. What a clown show. Mayo is in way over his head. Patriots are an undisciplined garbage fire. All you have are memories," one fna added. Even Boston sports fan Bill Simmons is ripping Mayo on social media.
