🏠 Yes, you can go home

By Lucia Viti, St. Augustine Record,

St. Augustinians, on this Friday, we're offering as much sunshine ☀ as the weatherman can, with sunshine forecasted throughout the day with temps at a cool 77 degrees for the high and 67 for the low. Saturday remains sketchy — rain possible — and Sunday promises to be an almost perfect day. 🌞

Needless to say, despite our weather fatigue, we remain grateful that Hurricane Milton has now departed.

Katelyn Hicks and Christopher Washington welcomed their daughter, Nova Reign, a 7-pound 1-ounce beauty born at UF Health Flagler Hospital as Hurricane Milton began its descent on the Sunshine State.

“Delivering our baby and then riding out a hurricane was not part of the plan and certainly unexpected,” Hicks said. “We watched the palm trees blowing from our hospital room window and felt safe the entire time. Nova let us sleep throughout most of the storm, thankfully.”

“Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality care, no matter the weather, and we are thrilled to be able to celebrate a positive outcome at a time that is devastating for so many,” said Michelle Paulo, Flagler's interim vice president of nursing.

Coincidentally, Nova has a 3-year-old sister named Storm.

The Hicks family said that they look forward to sharing their daughter's unique birthday story with her.
