    4-H programs lined up for the fall

    The N.C. Cooperative Extension Service is offering a variety of 4-H programs and events for Pitt County youth this fall.

    Pitt County 4-H offers educational programs designed to build life skills through shared experiences and hands-on learning. Youths must be 5 to 18 years of age to take part in the programs. Programs include:

    4-H County Council for ages 12-18 from 6:30-8 p.m. Sept. 24.

    Join the Teen Council for its county fall service project benefiting the Community Crossroads Center. Participants will create bagged lunches for 70 community members. They also will be discussing the upcoming Trunk or Treat Event and fundraisers. Snacks are provided. Register at tinyurl.com/teen-council/.

    Sew Much Fun Sewing Club for ages 8-14, on the first and second Thursday each month, starting Sept. 26.

    This club is free and meets year-round. Members will learn the basics of sewing, complete sewing projects and can continue through intermediate and advanced levels. Register at https://tinyurl.com/5d2bxe4p.

    Junior Master Gardener Club for ages 5-18, 4-5 p.m. on Oct: 10, 17 and 24 and Nov. 7, 14 and 21.

    In the free program, members of this 4-H club will work with Extension Master Gardener volunteers who will teach youth about plant and soil science, insects, diseases and more. Prepare to get your hands in the dirt as youth will be helping plant and maintain their own garden at the Pitt County Arboretum.

    Holiday Baking Club for ages 9-12 will take place from 4-5:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 and 29, Nov.12,19 and 26 and Dec. 3 and 10.

    Cost is $65. Participants will bake their way through the holidays with recipes suitable for the whole family. Register at https://tinyurl.com/5yptx226

    A is for APPLE for ages 5-7, 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 7. Cost is $10.

    October is National Apple month. Celebrate by cooking up apple treats, enjoy a STEAM lesson and a craft.. Register at https://tinyurl.com/2s3tbbzp.

    Apple Extravaganza for ages 9-12, 1-4 p.m. on Oct. 7. Cost is $10.

    To celebrate national apple month, cook up some apple-inspired treats such as apple pie tacos and homemade applesauce. Register at https://tinyurl.com/h6dzck9c.

    Prior to registration for 4-H Fall Fun programs, enroll as 4-H member at v2.4honline.com. Enrollment includes a health form, emergency contact, program liability waiver, photo, and transportation release, which covers 4-H membership for the rest of the year. When asked to choose club, select: Pitt member at large. When asked to choose project, select new member. Membership is free.

    Next, register for programs at the Eventbrite Portal. Payment is required to complete registration. Fees are due in full at time of registration to cover insurance and supplies. Waitlists do not require payment up front, but will be due if a space opens and accepted.

    The location of the programs will be listed on the ticket. All the programs will take place in Pitt County, some travel may occur.
