The Ayden-Grifton and D.H. Conley volleyball teams are both closing in on a collective local conference sweep.

The Chargers in the Eastern Plains Conference and the Vikings in the Big Carolina both have just one loss all season and both are poised to take the final step to their respective regular season titles.

Conley won again on Tuesday and moved to 11-0 in the BCC with a 3-0 sweep at New Bern. Ayden-Grifton (22-1, 10-0 BCC) played a make-up match at SouthWest Edgecombe on Wednesday night and plays home against Washington Thursday to close out EPC play.

Only 9-2 Farmville Central is close to the Chargers in the EPC standings, and just like last season, both of its losses are to A-G. Greene Central (5-7) and North Pitt (2-9) sit in fifth and sixth, respectively.

Conley, meanwhile, sits alone atop the BCC only 9-2 Rose nearby in second and 7-3 South Central in third.

The Jags continued their usual late-season charge toward the playoffs with a sweep of the Rams on Wednesday night.

Farmville Central (13-6, 9-2) won a five-set thriller over Greene Central (11-11, 5-7) in the first meeting of the season.

GC will await the chance of a postseason berth while the Jaguars host North Pitt on Thursday to close out the regular season.
