Tottenham have signed Dominic Solanke for £60million in a major statement of intent.

The striker, 26, joins from Bournemouth as Spurs ’ record signing after netting 21 goals last season for the Cherries.

A fee worth an initial £57m was agreed on Friday , £30m of which us up-front, with a further £3m in add-ons.

Solanke has signed a six-year deal with the club, committing his future through to the summer of 2030.

Ange Postecoglou has insisted that Solanke is no direct replacement for Harry Kane but the Bayern Munich man’s absence was keenly felt after his exit late in the transfer window last summer, which led to Heung-min Son and Richarlison sharing the centre-forward duties.

Solanke is expected to become Spurs’ record signing after Tanguy Ndombele, who failed to reach the thresholds required to turn his move from Lyon to its potential high of £63m. Richarlison’s fee could top out at £60m from an initial cost of £50m, if his bonus clauses are met.
