Detectives have released a fresh appeal after a woman was raped in a “terrifying” incident in Edmonton last summer.

The victim was approached by a man in Fore Street shortly after midnight on Sunday, August 6 2023.

He walked her to an unknown address nearby where he raped her.

The victim later reported the incident to police and detectives in Enfield launched an investigation.

Police have now released an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the rape.

Detective Constable Atif Farid said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and we have been carrying out extensive enquiries to try and find the person responsible.

“We are now releasing an image of a man we need to identify and speak to in connection with this investigation.

“The picture is fairly clear and the man is wearing a distinctive top and hat. We would ask anyone who recognises him to contact us immediately.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 810/18Aug23, or by tweeting @MetCC. Alternatively you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
