Arsenal rake in £2m windfall as Mark McGuinness completes move to Luton

Arsenal are set to bank around £2million after their former academy graduate Mark McGuinness joined Luton Town from Cardiff.

McGuinness left Arsenal in 2021 for Cardiff after spending 10 years with the Gunners academy setup.

Included in that deal was a sell-on clause, which was understood to be 30 per cent of any profit Cardiff made when selling McGuinness.

Arsenal are now set to reap the rewards of that after McGuinness completed a £10m move to Luton this week.

The Gunners are understood to be banking around £2m from the centre-back’s move, which will boost their finances.

Arsenal have worked over the years to include sell-on clauses in deals involving academy players leaving the club.

They made around £4m earlier this summer after Omari Hutchinson left Chelsea for Ipswich as part of a deal worth £22m.

A sell-on clause has also been included in the deal that saw Mika Biereth move to Sturm Graz for £4m in July.
