The latest viral trend encourages Instagram followers to brave the wrath of ChatGPT — leading to some hilarious results.

As if Instagram isn’t sometimes savage enough, social media users are now encouraged to get ChatGPT to “roast” their social media profiles and share the results online.

Almost 400,000 Instagram accounts have taken part in the challenge, posting brutal comments that the platform has produced based on their profile grid.

Highlights include remarks such as “your Instagram looks like it’s having an identity crisis,” and “your Instagram feed is a vibe — if that vibe is ‘I’m allergic to smiling’.”

Others include: “If your Instagram feed were a dish, it would be overcooked pasta.”

So, how do Instagram users jump on the bandwagon and get their very own ChatGPT roast?

Unfortunately, the viral trend is available only on smartphones, so you must download Instagram and ChatGPT.

Furthermore, it also seems like a lot of work, including screenshots and uploads — although the results can be worth it if your humour is dark.

Here’s how to get involved:

• Once you’ve signed in to the GPT mobile platform, take a couple of screenshots of your Instagram grid.
• Head to the ChatGPT app and add the prompt “roast my Instagram feed in one paragraph”.
• Click the little image icon on the left-hand side of the text box, add the screenshots from your profile to the post, hit submit, and await the hilarious response.

• Add the post to the Instagram Story template to join the social media challenge.
• Go to Instagram and find the ChatGPT roast story template, before adding a screenshot of the ChatGPT roast message.
• Those looking to get in on the roasting fun from their desktops can also explore the roast master option, but it doesn’t have access to Instagram profiles like the app.
