Ange Postecoglou names what 'really different' Wilson Odobert can offer Tottenham ahead of debut

Ange Postecoglou believes summer signing Wilson Odobert will add something different to Tottenham 's front line as he tipped all the club's new additions can make an impact this season.

Odobert, 19, joined Spurs from Burnley in a deal worth up to £30million last week and is available to face Everton on Saturday after receiving a work permit.

"I really like the way he plays in the wide areas, he's different to our other wingers," Postecoglou said. "He's a dribbler, he likes to get into the front third. He can play either side, he can play central.

"He's had a really good development if you look at his trajectory from PSG as a youngster to Troyes, playing in Ligue 1, and France and Premier League football before the age of 19. I think he ticked all the boxes for us and he's a fantastic young bloke as well, so really happy to get him in."

Odobert is the third teenager to join Spurs this summer after Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, both 18, who made their debuts from the bench in Monday's 1-1 draw at Leicester.

"With all the players we've signed, I think irrespective of age we’re signing them because we think they can make an impact. I certainly see that with Wilson," Postecoglou said. "He's a year older than Archie and Lucas and they’ve already made an impact.

"We sign players because we're still in that stage of building a team. I won’t bring players here who I don’t think can meaningfully contribute to us in the short-term and Wilson definitely will."

With a little over a week to go until next Friday's 11pm transfer deadline, Postecoglou says Spurs still have "a little bit to do" in the market.

Ashley Phillips joined Stoke on a season-long loan on Friday, while Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon and Manor Solomon are among the players available to leave.

"Probably a couple more will go out, but we've done a fair bit of work over the last 12 months in terms of the squad," Postecoglou said.

"As much as the focus has been on getting guys in, we've changed the squad a fair bit, brought down the demographic a fair way.

"We've brought in footballers who are more better suited to playing the football we want to play moving forwards. So, there has been a lot of work done in that area from our perspective, but with a week to go there is still a little bit to do."
