The family of a 21-year-old knifed to death in Brixton have said they will “never recover” as they plead for help in bringing his killers to justice.

Police are still hunting those responsible for the murder of Ronaldo Scott, who died in front of his family near Morrison Road , Angell Town, one year ago.

Shortly after midday on September 4, he was chased by men who jumped out a car and stabbed him multiple times in broad daylight.

Mr Scott, known by the street name Skengroy, staggered to a children’s playground near his home. Police and paramedics tried to save him but he died at the park, in front of his horrified mother and sister.

A year on from his death his family reflected on what has been an “incredibly painful” 12 months without answers.

“We lost such a huge part of our family when Ronaldo was murdered,” they said. “Our family will never be the same, we will never recover from this.

“We are pleading for anyone who can help us to come forward and either speak to the police or Crimestoppers. Please help us get justice. Ronaldo, we love you and miss you terribly.”

The family previously told how Mr Scott had recently started a course in construction, and was “excited” to begin a career in the building industry when he was killed.

“He was learning to drive and just last week went on a family camping trip which he loved,” said his aunt after his death.

“He was generous and playful and took younger members of the family under his wing. He had a bright future ahead of him that has been taken from us all. “

CCTV footage released by Scotland Yard showed two people dressed all in black, with balaclavas covering their faces, running from the scene of the stabbing .

Two people were arrested in connection with Mr Scott’s death, but were later released with no further action.

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn from Specialist Crime, who leads the investigation, said the Met is “still committed to bringing Ronaldo’s killers to justice”.

She renewed calls for witnesses to come forward, saying: “I am extremely grateful to everyone who has come forward so far to help us piece together the circumstances of Ronaldo’s death, but we know there are more people that we still haven’t heard from and we really need those people to get in touch.

“It is important that we hear from you now.

“Although we have made significant progress with the investigation, we need to gather as much evidence and information as we can to secure a successful conviction.

“If you do not come forward now, then you may prevent a family from securing justice for their son, grandson, brother and uncle. We will continue to support Ronaldo’s family throughout this painstaking process.

“If you saw, or have heard anything since, no matter how insignificant you might think it is, please contact us. At the very least your information could add certainty to details that we haven’t yet confirmed. Please, give a grieving family a chance of securing justice for Ronaldo.

“We are reissuing the video and images of two men we believe are responsible for Ronaldo’s murder. Do you know who these men are?

“It has been a year since Ronaldo’s murder. A lot of allegiances and circumstances can change in that time. We understand that, for many reasons, people will not want to speak to the police, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously. They will not trace your call or your IP address.”

Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call detectives in the incident room on 02087214005 or police on 101 or contact the Met police on X @MetCC. Please quote Operation ARCDOWN.

To give information anonymously, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org .
