Police are investigating a bomb threat made to a north London theatre where Strictly Come Dancing contestant Amanda Abbington was performing.

An email warning had been received by a staff member on August 12, Scotland Yard said.

A week earlier another email, thought to be from the same person, said Sherlock actress Abbington would “die on stage” at the London Park Theatre, Finsbury Park where she is appearing in When It Happens To You.

But the 50-year-old - embroiled in a controversy with Strictly dance partner Giovanni Pernice - carried on, The Sun first reported.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman told the Standard: “We were called at about 10am on Monday, August 12 by a staff member at a theatre in Finsbury Park following receipt of an alleged malicious communication.

“Officers attended. Enquiries are ongoing to establish whether this is linked with a prior report of malicious communication.

    “There have been no arrests.”

Abbington alleged “inappropriate” behaviour and claims she was subject to a “toxic environment” while she danced on the show alongside professional Pernice.

Pernice, 34, left the show, and has denied all allegations.

A BBC investigation was launched with the results yet to be made public.
