    Girl, 16, in hospital after being hit by a police car on way to call in east London

    A girl aged 16 has been hit by a marked police car on its way to an incident in east London .

    The teenage pedestrian was hurt in Bow Road at about 12.55pm on Monday.

    Paramedics scrambled to the scene near Bow Tube station and Central Foundation Girls’ School.

    She was taken to a hospital major trauma centre for further assessment.

    In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said her condition is not yet known.

    A spokesman added: “At the time of the collision, the police vehicle was on the way to an incident.

    “The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed.”

    Police officers inside were not injured in the collision.

    Bow Road remains closed while investigators probe the smash, he added, saying: “At about 12.55pm on Monday, September 16, a marked police vehicle was involved in a collision with a female pedestrian.

    “The London Ambulance Service was called and the female - aged 16 - was assessed by paramedics at the scene.

    “She was taken to hospital by LAS for further assessment and we await an update on her condition.”

    London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 1.11pm on Monday, September 16 to reports of a road traffic collision on Bow Road, E3.

    “We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew.

    “We treated a teenager at the scene before taking her to a major trauma centre.”
