The Peaky Blinders movie cast is building BBC

Netflix has just given a major update on the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders movie.

The streaming giant has confirmed new additions to the cast reprise their roles from the original series, including Stephen Graham as Hayden Stagg, Sophie Rundle as Ada Shebly, Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong, Packy Lee as Johnny Dogs, and Ian Peck as Curly.

In addition, it has been announced that Jay Lycurgo will also join the film.

The original BBC drama ran for six series from 2013 to 2022.

Last week, production commenced on the film, which has been billed as “an epic continuation” of the multi-award-winning gangster saga, set in the lawless streets of Birmingham in the 1900s.

Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth and Barry Keoghan are also confirmed to star alongside Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy who reprises his role as the iconic Tommy Shelby in the film.

The plot and further casting remain tightly under wraps, including whether Tom Hardy will put in an appearance as the dastardly Alfie Solomons.

The actor told Sky News in June that he’s definitely up for it.“One hundred per cent,” he told the broadcaster. “Alfie will definitely make an appearance, but I don’t know when.

“And I don’t even know if he will, that’s just me punting.”

Directed by Tom Harper, the film is being written by the show’s creator, Steven Knight , who also serves as a producer alongside Patrick Holland, Cillian Murphy and Guy Heeley, and will be made in association with BBC Film.

Knight has previously teased in a statement that this feature-length outing will be an “explosive chapter” in the Peaky Blinders story with “no holds barred”.He said: “I’m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happen.

“It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.”

Meanwhile Murphy said of his involvement: “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me.”

An official release date has yet to be confirmed, but it’s expected that the Peaky Blinders movie will be released in late 2025 or sometime in 2026.
