Jake E Lee, a former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne , was shot and wounded multiple times in Las Vegas early on Tuesday while walking his dog.

Las Vegas police said in a statement that Lee - Osbourne’s lead guitarist between 1982 and 1987 - was shot around 2.40am local time and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been made, with police saying an investigation was ongoing into the shooting , which took place in a neighbourhood about 10 miles south of the Las Vegas Strip.

The shooting is thought to have been random.

A representative for the heavy metal musician confirmed the shooting in a statement, adding that Lee was conscious and "is expected to fully recover".

"As the incident is under police investigation, no further comments will be forthcoming. Lee and his family appreciate respecting their privacy at this time," the spokesperson said.

He joined Ozzy Osbourne's band in 1982 and would remain until 1987, playing on albums including 1983's Bark at the Moon.

Industry figures have sent well-wishes to the guitarist, with agent David Maida writing in a post on X, formerly Twitter: “Wishing my friend, Jake E. Lee a full and steadfast recovery.”

Meanwhile, guitarist of rock band Night Ranger, Brad Gillis, added: “I just heard about Jake E Lee. Glad to hear he is doing well. My thoughts are with ya, buddy!”
