F1 Driver Standings 2024: Lando Norris closes gap to Max Verstappen after Mexican Grand Prix

Lando Norris cut into Max Verstappen ‘s lead in the title race in an eventful Mexican Grand Prix, but the Red Bull driver still remains in control.

Norris finished second behind Carlos Sainz, who earned his second win of the season, while Charles Leclerc completed the podium on a strong day for Ferrari.

Verstappen was sixth, dropping points to his title rival, after he was handed two ten-second penalties for his aggressives moves on Norris as the pair went wheel-to-wheel earlier in the race.

Leclerc snatched the extra point for the fastest lap in the closing stages of the race, meaning Norris had to settle for taking 10 points out of Verstappen’s championship lead.

The McLaren driver now trails by 47 points with four races to go.

Red Bull, meanwhile, dropped to third in the constructor standings, as Ferrari moved up to second and within 29 points of McLaren.
