Thomas Frank and Ruben Amorim have pledged their commitment to Brentford and Sporting Lisbon respectively, amid links with the Manchester United job.

Both Frank and Amorim are among the early contenders to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford after the Dutchman was sacked.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been placed in interim charge while United search for his replacement and will be in charge of the team for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie with Leicester at Old Trafford.

Amorim is doing a brilliant job with Sporting in Portugal, while Frank continues to work wonders at Brentford.

Both managers were asked about their availability when speaking in press conferences on Monday.

Frank insisted he has a big responsibility to Brentford and said: “I'm very, very happy here.”

Amorim, who ruled himself out of replacing David Moyes as West Ham boss in the summer, also addressed the possibility of becoming United head coach.

Speaking in Portugal, Amorim said: “I was expecting that question and obviously I’m not going to talk about the future, because otherwise I’ll always have to comment, so it’s not worth it, I won’t comment.

“I’m very proud to be the coach of Sporting, that’s all.”

Gareth Southgate, Xavi Hernandez and Graham Potter are also among the early contenders to take over at Old Trafford.

Southgate has admirers within INEOS, though he has said he wants to take a year out following his England exit after Euro 2024.

Xavi and Graham Potter are both out of work and available to United.
