With the fall equinox arriving in a little over a month and summer coming to an end on Sept. 22, many on the SouthCoast may be looking forward to cooler temperatures to go along with their favorite spiced drinks.

According to The Farmers' Almanac's fall weather forecast , you can start getting your flannels ready because this fall the weather will be crisp and cool.

As the leaves start to change color, the temps in the Northeast will drop quickly with a forecast showing that there will be " twice as many cloudy and showery days as opposed to fair and sunny dry days."

What do the next few months look like?

Be prepared for the cold temps and anticipated rainfall headed this way in the next few months as The Farmer's Almanac claims it is accurate 80% to 85% of the time.

Get ready to pack your sweater because September on the SouthCoast could feel an "unseasonal chill" with a shift to chilly air that will bring a sprinkling of showers.

Halloween calls for "unsettled weather" that may make you rethink your costume, it will lead us into November with cold stormy weather.

You may have to get your shovel out early, if the predictions are correct the area could be looking at a winter mix between Nov. 16 to 19 dropping up to foot a of snow in the Northeast.

    Wet winter ahead

As for winter, the forecast isn't looking too promising with a "season of rapid-fire storms that will bring both rain and snow," leaving the area very wet and cold.

It's showing that the Northeast will have above-normal amounts of winter precipitation with rain and sleet being prevalent near the coast and along the I-95 corridor.

Heading into the new year, the Almanac is predicting a very strong active storm track in January that will deliver strong winds and lots of snow and rain.
