8 SouthCoast football teams kick off 2024 season: Week 1 scoreboard

Eight out of the SouthCoast's nine football teams open the 2024 season this week.

Bishop Stang, GNB Voc-Tech and New Bedford all have home games while Apponequet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Old Rochester and Wareham hit the road.

Old Colony has a Week 1 bye.

Middleboro 14, Apponequet 7

Sophomore Paxton Canessa made his varsity debut for the Lakers (0-1), completing 11 of 17 pass attempts for 142 yards, including a 21-yard scoring strike to senior Brody Joly. Joly finished with four catches for 57 yards and carried the ball 20 times for 70 yards. He also had a defensive sack.

FRIDAY

Wareham at Carver, 4 p.m.

Fairhaven at Durfee, 6:30 p.m.

Old Rochester at Attleboro, 6:30 p.m.

Dartmouth at Bishop Stang, 7 p.m.

Bristol-Plymouth at GNB Voc-Tech, 7 p.m.

SATURDAY

Taunton at New Bedford, 1 p.m.
