    As we head into a new week, let's take a look at the news from this past week.

    Longtime state Sen. Mark Montigny is set to keep his seat for the state's 2nd Bristol Plymouth District, according to unofficial results. For the Democratic primary election, he faced newcomer Molly Kivi, of New Bedford. Montigny, of New Bedford, received 8,455 votes, or 80.1% to Molly Kivi's 2,099 or 19.9% as of 12:33 a.m. Wednesday, according to unofficial numbers.

    Lifelong Dartmouth resident and Dartmouth Orchards owner Brian Medeiros created an innovative new way to promote a cause. Using a sticker to make a recognizable shape of a cancer awareness ribbon — on the skin of reddened apples. He plans to have about 100 of the "ribboned" honeycrisp apples for sale , with 100% of the sales to be donated to the National Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation .

    WildFish LLC, better known as Red's Best , is doing something new to promote its freshly landed seafood.

    They provide background information, including pictures, of the fishermen involved in the catch that reached your dinner plate. It's called: Meet some Fishermen.

    CEO Jared Auerbach says the promotion helps people connect with the product. "We've had success telling the stories of the fishermen, and sharing the stories of the fishermen we work with."

    Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School Principal Warley Williams welcomed about 20 new teachers to the school in his fourth school year, including some who rose through the ranks from teacher’s assistant to teacher positions following teacher retirements.

    Williams said the new teachers start off getting acclimated to the school, including focusing on lesson plan development, evaluation structure, how to work through evaluations and understand them, classroom management and behavior modification.

    New coach, new quarterback, new schemes give Wareham football a fresh start for 2024

    Amare Rose had never played organized football until last year and he saw limited action as a freshman at Wareham High .

    This year, Rose has accepted the challenge of the team’s starting quarterback. “We came into this season without a quarterback. We didn’t really have a second quarterback last year,” said Wareham first-year head coach Cy Bariteau . “Amare stepped up in a big way for us this year."

    In his first year as Wareham’s head coach, Bariteau has found ways to get the most out of his players.

    As the leaves turn colors and the autumnal equinox approaches the Harvest Moon will soon be illuminating the sky.

    The Harvest Moon will appear just after sunset on Tuesday, Sept. 17, with peak illumination at 10:34 p.m.

    This year's Harvest Moon will be a Super Harvest Blood Moon. It is the full moon nearest the autumnal equinox and coincides with the moon’s perigee, when the moon is closest to the Earth, making it a super moon that will appear 14% bigger and 30% brighter.
