Beloved New Bedford breakfast restaurant Mimi's Kitchen closes its doors

NEW BEDFORD — Another beloved breakfast spot in New Bedford has made the heartbreaking decision to close its doors.

After opening in 2022, Mimi's Kitchen was a go-to for breakfast and lunch on Nauset Street.

Tara Gordon opened the restaurant with her husband Cory Gordon serving the area's popular breakfast food with vegan and dairy-free options .

Their welcoming atmosphere and fantastic food kept many locals coming back for more with new items popping up each week and Portuguese twists on the classics.

Unfortunately, in a post on Facebook on Oct. 6 they announced their closing: “It is with much sadness that after 2 1/2 incredible years of serving you delicious breakfast and lunch, we've made the bittersweet decision to close our doors for good.”

“From the first cup of coffee brewed to the last plate served, every moment has been a treasured memory. We are so grateful for the love, laughter, and support from our amazing community. We want to thank all of our amazing customers and staff for your support over these years and we hope to see you again in the future.”

The post was met with hundreds of patrons wishing them luck and saddened that the “best breakfast place around” was shutting its doors.

The news of their closing comes only two months after Dough Company in New Bedford also made the difficult decision to close.
