Gray Stone Day School middle school students recently competed in “The Great History Challenge,” a national academic competition where students are asked trivia-style questions allowing students to demonstrate their history knowledge.

All questions come from the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) curriculum standards. Middle school students take a placement test created by the GHC. Top students are then invited to participate in regional and national events.

Thirteen seventh and eighth graders competed in the regional competition at Winthrop University March 25.
Brady Lowe, Michael Bristol, Leo McLeod, Gabriel Webster, Anna Lynne Marino, Aaron Maynor, Gabriel Shafer, Rose Brookshire and Will Charest qualified for the national competition that will take place in Chicago May 24-26.

“I am so proud of how our students performed in this prestigious event. They were able to showcase their history knowledge in such a fun and unique way and they represented our school well.” Middle School principal Pollyanne Rhodes said.
