The following was submitted by Kim McGowen, annual giving officer for Stanly Health Foundation, host of Stanly County’s “Dancing With the Stars.”

The anticipation for the 12th annual Dancing with the Stars event supporting Butterfly House Children’s Advocacy Center continues to grow with the announcement of another dynamic dance team: Kate White and Cade Whitley.
White, 23, is a proud Stanly County native currently residing in Wilmington, where she is actively pursuing a career in acting.
A former Miss Stanly County, Miss Thomasville and the current Miss Charlotte Mecklenburg, Kate is no stranger to the spotlight.
She channels her passion for the arts through her organization, “Camp Create!” in Albemarle, which focuses on creating artistic opportunities for the youth of Stanly County.
Kate is thrilled to bring her fundraising expertise, honed through her arts advocacy work, to support the essential services provided by the Butterfly House.
Kate’s fun fact is that she grew up in musical theater but has never been a dancer.
Whitley is also a Stanly County native, currently living in Oakboro.
A 2023 graduate of Wingate University with a BS Degree in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Psychology, Cade is employed with Atrium Health Security and has aspirations of joining the ALE in the near future.
Known for his talent as a local entertainer, Cade performs throughout the state, with a recent highlight being a featured entertainer for Miss North Carolina Pageant Week. He has a strong commitment to his community, evidenced by his four years of volunteer coaching in football and wrestling at South Stanly High School and currently at Albemarle High School.
In his free time, Cade enjoys spending time with friends and family on the lake.
A fun fact about Cade is that he coaches sports for area high schools.
Kate and Cade’s participation in the Dancing with the Stars event underscores their dedication to giving back to their community and supporting the critical work of the Butterfly House.
This event will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center. With the theme “Magic of Motown,” the night promises to be an enchanting evening of soulful music and captivating dance performances.
With 11 dance teams working diligently on their routines and engaging in various fundraising activities, the night is set to be a spectacular celebration of talent and community spirit.
Tickets are now available, and the community is encouraged to come out and support Kate, Cade and all the participants. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Butterfly House Children’s Advocacy Center, providing vital services to children and families in need.
