    Albemarle selects new public housing director

    Albemarle City Manager Todd Clark has announced the hiring of Renae Miller as the city’s new director of public housing.
    Miller is a Certified Property Management Professional with more than 20 years of experience in the housing industry. She brings knowledge of various housing programs, including HUD Public Housing, the Housing Choice Voucher program, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and RAD operations and compliance.
    Miller has experience in leasing new construction LIHTC properties and managing acquisition-rehab communities.
    Miller holds industry certifications, including Accredited Residential Manager, Certified Occupancy Specialist, RAD PBV Specialist, Public Housing Manager, Certified Property Manager, Blended Occupancy Specialist, Housing Choice Voucher Specialist and HCV Rent Calculation Specialist.
    “I am genuinely excited to be part of the City of Albemarle and to support its mission. I’m dedicated to providing outstanding customer and community service to the City’s residents. I look forward to utilizing my background in property management, leadership, and personnel development to make a positive difference in our community,” Miller said.
    “Renae Miller brings a wealth of professional knowledge and experience to her role with the City of Albemarle. Throughout the interview process, she demonstrated that she is a solutions-focused leader. I look forward to seeing her utilize her skills to benefit our community,” Clark added.
    Born and raised in the Winston-Salem Housing Authority Public Housing communities, Miller’s background has fueled her commitment to the growth and development of the families she serves.
    A mother of three and a grandmother, she is also the founder and Senior Leader of Power of God in Christ Ministries in Winston-Salem.
    Miller is the founder of the nonprofit organization Generations of Women United, which reflects her passion for empowering women of all generations, regardless of color, nationality or religion. She serves as a mentor and motivator to many women from diverse backgrounds and walks of life.
    Albemarle operates a housing program consisting of Section 8 vouchers as well as 200 apartment units. The apartments are at two sites in Albemarle, Amhurst Gardens and Elizabeth Heights.
    Amhurst Gardens has 150-units ranging in size from one-bedroom units up to five bedrooms.
    Elizabeth Heights has 50-one-bedroom units.
