Caroline Economic Development Launches New Website

DENTON — Caroline County Economic Development has created a new website.

Director Rob Zimberhoff helped to bring it to life. It is designed to better support the local business community.

“We worked with contractor Maven and Smith, who really built this new website for us. We put lots and lots of hours into considering how it would look, the message we are trying to send,” Zimberhoff said.

He tailored the site not only for function but also for the people who could use the site.

The new site includes sections like relocate and expand, business planning and startup, key industries, and life and leisure. There are aerial photographs of available commercial real estate.

“We wanted it to be more useful for anyone doing business in Caroline County — new businesses that would like to come into Caroline County or businesses that are already here,” he said.

He noted farmers and agricultural sector as being a focus of the new design.

“We have a lot of folks who are innovating in the industry. Really paying mind to best practices and environmentalism. Another one is manufacturing, they are some of our biggest employers,” Zimberhoff said.

He said there is opportunity to grow with unfinished properties in Denton and Federalsburg. There is warehouse space that is not being used. He wants the county to grow without creating sprawl. He also looked at the retail sector, and empty storefronts indicate that there is room to grow.

“We wanted to make sure it was an improvement over the old site. Kendall (Teague) and I put a lot of time into the actual writing, into finding the right pictures and into making sure the messages were clear,” he said.

He said he was excited about the new resources that are on the site and that they are helpful to the business community. Like workforce development and training to how to start your business to working with a lender.

“Another tool I am excited about is Resimplifi. It is driven towards commercial and industrial real estate. And agricultural real estate. It is a tool that produces a map and other data of all the properties that are available in Caroline County. It lists them in a way that is easy to find,” Zimberhoff said.

He said Teague has been a huge help and the Caroline County Chamber of Commerce has helped by spreading the word.
