Sewer line blockage causes overflow on Bay Street
A gravity sewer line behind Bay Street discharged approximately 6,000 gallons of untreated wastewater into the ponds on Bay Street Wednesday, according to a release from Easton Utilities. Man charged in shooting on Bay Bridge
CENTREVILLE — A Severn man is facing multiple charges in Queen Anne’s County following an incident on the Bay Bridge in early June. According to Maryland Transportation Authority Police, the driver of a black Jeep, identified as Melvin Clark, 41, fired multiple shots toward a silver Mitsubishi while driving recklessly across the westbound span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Reports show the driver then exited the Jeep and pointed a gun at the driver of the Mitsubishi. In a July 18 hearing, Judge Jennifer Alexander ordered Clark to be held without bond pending trial. In addition to multiple traffic violations, Clark is charged with assault in the first degree, reckless endangerment and the use of a firearm in a felony crime.
New exhibit documents history of market gunners, waterfowl on Eastern Shore
EASTON — A new exhibit in downtown Easton featuring artifacts such as boats, punt guns and decoy ducks tells a history of waterfowl and the Chesapeake Bay. Accidental fire damages Cordova mobile home
CORDOVA — A mobile home in Cordova sustained significant damage in a fire Tuesday afternoon. The Office of the State Fire Marshal determined the blaze to be accidental. A release by the fire marshal indicates the fire took place just after 4 p.m. Tuesday on Shockley Lane. A homeowner noticed the fire, and it took firefighters about 45 minutes to control the blaze. The fire marshal’s office ruled the fire accidental due to a “mechanical and electrical failure in the water pump.” No injuries were reported. The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage. The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants of the home, according to the fire marshal’s office.
