One person is dead following a motorcycle collision with a tractor south of Towanda in Bradford County.

The crash took place late last month, but was reported Wednesday by Pennsylvania State Police at Towanda.

State police identified the victim as Chad McKean, 37, of Monroeton.

Around 12:43 p.m. Aug. 25, the motorcycle was westbound on Liberty Corners Road in Monroe Township when it approached a tractor with an attached brush hog making a left turn into a driveway, state police said.

McKean laid the bike down in the oncoming lane of traffic in an effort to avoid a collision, but the tractor was already in the process of completing the turn and the motorcycle struck the left rear wheel of the brush hog before coming to final rest on the far left side of the roadway, troopers said.

McKean was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the tractor was uninjured, state police said.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Monroe Fire Co., Jack Williams Garage, Guthrie EMS, and the Bradford County Coroner's Office.
