    Tioga Township woman killed when struck by car while retrieving mail: Pa. State police

    A Tioga County, Pennsylvania woman was killed Tuesday afternoon when she was struck by a vehicle in front of her residence.

    Pennsylvania State Police at Mansfield identified the victim as Margorie Jackson, of state Route 287 in Tioga Township.

    The incident took place around 1 p.m. Tuesday when Jackson was crossing the road after retrieving her mail and walked in front of an oncoming vehicle, state police said. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, troopers said.

    Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tioga County coroner. Traffic on Route 287 was detoured for several hours after the crash.

    The investigation into the crash is continuing. The driver is not facing any charges at this time, state police said.
