MUNCIE, Ind. — A spring tradition continues at the David Owsley Museum of Art on the Ball State University campus with "Art in Bloom," a free public floral exhibition Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19.

Extended museum hours are planned 1 to 5 p.m. on both days. In addition, a free public reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday featuring jazz, snacks, and a cash bar.

According to a news release, family-friendly activities include docent-led tours, flower-related demonstrations, live music, and hands-on crafts for all ages. Parking is free on West Campus Drive in the Old Quad.

"Art in Bloom" invites the region’s top floral designers to present innovative floral creations inspired by significant works from the museum’s collection.

“This event and museum rival programs and collections in big cities, but here in Muncie, admission is free and accessible to families," Robert La France, the museum's director, said in the release.

Throughout the weekend, visitors may view floral interpretations of five of the museum’s most impressive works of art and then vote for their favorite arrangement. The museum will announce the People's Choice Award on social media Monday, May 20.
