Four people were killed in separate crashes in the same South Carolina county over a four-day span, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office .

The first of the three wrecks was a single-vehicle collision that happened Thursday at about 1:40 a.m., said Master Trooper Gary Miller of the South Carolina Highway Patrol .

Donald Behr, a 64-year-old Cross resident, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck south on Ranger Road , officials said. Near the intersection with Chocolate Lab Road, in the area by Lake Moultrie, the Chevy ran off the right side of the road where it hit two mailboxes, a sign, a building and a tree, according to Miller.

Behr was the only person in the Chevy, Miller said. No other injuries were reported. Behr was wearing a seat belt, Coroner Darnell Hartwell said.

Information about what caused the pickup to veer off the road was not available, but the crash continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol and coroner’s office.

The next crash happened Friday at about 7:35 a.m., according to Hartwell.

Tasha Pope, a 34-year-old Moncks Corner resident, died at the scene of a collision on U.S. 52 , Hartwell said. Pope was driving a Ford Explorer SUV, according to Hartwell.

There was no word if Pope was wearing a seat belt, but the coroner’s office and Moncks Corner Police Department are continuing to investigate the wreck.

Another crash happened at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the coroner’s office.

A pedestrian, 62-year-old Jack Baron Yarborough, was hit by a vehicle at 507 U.S. 52 in Moncks Corner , Hartwell said.

Further information about what Hartwell called an accident was not available, but it continues to be investigated by the coroner’s office and Mocks Corner police.

The most recent collision occurred at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday, the coroner’s office said.

Jaeshawn Fulmore, a 24-year-old Summerville resident, died in what Hartwell called an accident.

Fulmore was driving a 2010 Dodge Journey west on Cane Bay Boulevard when the SUV ran off the road, crashed into a tree and overturned, causing Fulmore to be partially ejected and died at the scene, officials said.

Information about what caused the SUV to veer off the road was not available, but the crash continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol and coroner’s office.

Through Aug. 4, at least 534 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2024, according to the state Department of Public Safety. Last year, 1,030 people died in crashes in South Carolina, DPS reported.

At least 22 people have died in Berkeley County crashes in 2024, according to DPS data. There were 60 deaths reported in the county in 2023, DPS reported.
