A Midlands Zaxby’s restaurant is temporarily closed, as the building where it is located is set to be demolished and rebuilt.

The Zaxby’s at 821 Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce is closed and is slated for demolition, according to a Facebook post from the city of Cayce.

“Demolition of the current Zaxby’s building will begin on Monday,” the city noted. “The developer plans to rebuild and reopen the new and updated Zaxby’s in January of 2025!”

There is a banner outside the Knox Abbott location noting that it is closed for renovations.

Zaxby’s is known for its chicken fingers, wings, seasoned fries, sweet iced tea and zesty dipping sauce. Founded in Statesboro, Georgia in 1990, Zaxby’s has grown to nearly 1,000 locations across the U.S. The company has a number of locations across the Midlands.

The Knox Abbott Zaxby’s is situated along a busy commercial corridor in Cayce, with several other restaurants nearby, including Wendy’s, Captain D’s, Duke’s Pad Thai and Vella’s Tavern. It’s just west of Brookland-Cayce High School’s football stadium.
